The fortified church of St. Oswald in Eisenerz
Austria

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Oswald in Eisenerz, popularly known Oswaldikirche, is the largest and most important fortified church in Styria and one of the few completely preserved in Austria. It belongs to the deanery Leoben, the municipality of Eisenerz. The St. Oswald consecrated church was built in the 15th and 16th century in late Gothic style. It is regarded as a masterpiece of Admonter Bauhütte. Built on a northern foothills of the Erzberg, it is surrounded by a Tabor system. Recent studies from 2010, according to it is the only known religious monument of Protestantism in Styria.
