The wooden pews inside Langley Chapel, Shropshire

Langley Chapel is one of the most complete 17th century Puritan churches in England. It stands in a field of arable crops in rural Shropshire. While its isolated location is one of the reasons for its abandonment as a place of worship, it is also why it remains intact with its original fixtures and fittings.

The chapel is one of the country's first historic buildings to be taken care of by the state and preserved. Today it is under the stewardship of English Heritage.
