River View Cemetery - Virgil Earp grave

Marked w/ two American flags is the grave of Virgil Earp in River View Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.  He was both a U.S. Marshal & Tombstone, Arizona City Marshal famous for the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral on October 26, 1881 against an outlaw group known as the Cowboys.  The 30-second shootout also involved other lawmen including his younger brothers Wyatt, Morgan, & Doc Holliday to which everyone was wounded except Wyatt.  Despite future assassination attempts, Virgil would later live in California & then Goldfield, Nevada where he would die of pneumonia on October 19, 1905.
