What remains behind
Austria

If you cross check this image with the satelite image of the location, you may think that it's slightly misplaced. It isn't! We are standing at the end of the larges glacier of the eastern part of the Alps: the Pasterze. The satelite image is somewhat earlier and the glacier Pasterze - along with most glaciers around the world - is retreating at a very rapid pace due to global warming. On one half of this panorama you can see the melting glacier, on the other half you can see what remains behind: a desert of stones.
