D.AFONSO Son Bastard of D.João I, house with D.Beatriz Pereira de Alvim, daughter of D.Nuno Álvares Pereira in November 1401, having received the village and castle of Chaves and the land of Barcelos. He then commands this ducal palace and the defensive wall.In 1415 when the conquest of Ceuta, the Count D. Afonso brought many spoils from the Zalabenzala Palace to serve in the work of his palace in Barcelos, namely a ceiling of a room, several columns of Alabaster, two marble tables and a jasper table that went to the hermitage of Our Lady of the franchise. The palace would be ready in 1425.
