Staffhurst Wood, Surrey. New bluebells with trees just coming into leaf. Image taken early May 2016. Located in an area of ancient woodland, a mix of oak, ash and beech with areas of hornbeam and hazel coppice. The wood has remained continuously wooded since Saxon times. During WWII the entire wood was a massive ammunition dump with gravelled trackways laid to facilate access to the the munitions.
