Another notable facility is the Private Examination Room, remodeled in 1701 by the University's master-builder, José Cardoso. Its main reason for interest lies in the decoration that consists of a tile panel made by the potter and painter from São Paulo, Agostinhó de Paiva, and a frieze of paintings depicting former rectors, those who lived before 1701 by António Simões. The ceiling painting was the work of José Ferreira Araújo, with the insignia being due to João Vidal. The painter Gonçalo de Mesquita also worked on this project. The carpentry work and the wooden decoration was carried out by the master Manuel Pereira. All these works were sponsored by Rector D. Nuno da Silva Teles
