Farol de São Tomé is a small town near Campos dos Goytacazes, the oil city in Rio de Janeiro state. In early times this site was called Cabo de São Tome (Saint Tomé's Cape in english) and have its name changed after the installation of a Lighthouse (farol in Portuguese) by the Brazilian Navy. This is a very small town with a small population, mostly shrimp catcher seamen but in summer times a lot of tourist came to enjoy the beautiful coastline. In Farol de São Tomé there is no pier, harbour or docks, so every day seamen have to put their boats at the sand to protect then against tides.
