Dunmovin California is along U.S. Route 395 south of Olancha and north of Coso Junction. It was first homesteaded by James Cowan as a freight station for silver from Cerro Gordo Mine to Los Angeles. In the 1900’s, Los Angeles Dept. of Water and Power piped water from Talus Canyon nearby and the DWP later built the aqueduct. In 1936 partners bought out Conwan and changed the name to the town of Dunmovin. This property was sold in 1961 and operated the cafe and store for many years before it was abandoned.
