Lamas Lamos Limonlu Fortress And Valley Erdemli Vr Mersin 3eb
Turkey
It is in Limonlu Neighborhood of Erdemli District, Mersin, 1 km to the north of the highway. It was built to protect Byzantine borders divided by the Lamas River. It is also recorded as the place where Byzantine and Arab prisoners were exchanged. Vasak, brother of the commander of Çandır Fortress, declared himself as the commander of this fortress in 1160s. Apart from the fortress, there stands a bridge and an aqueduct in the site. The water delivery system starting at this point continues until Kızkalesi Fortress. When one climbs up to north from the outskirts of the fortress and Lamas Valley (Kayacı Valley), he can see the water trench dug on bedrock and the mill. Besides, remains of a large building lie on the ground above this area.
