A view of the Manzanar Cemetery outside Lone Pine, California. It is part of the Manzanar War Relocation Center, one of ten Japanese-American internment camps during World War 2 that housed over 11,000 people at its peak. The camp was photographed at times by photographer Ansel Adams. The obelisk was constructed in 1943 by Ryozo Kado & translates as the Soul Consoling Tower. A few graves remain behind in small mounds, this scene is often a photographic location w/ the 14,375 foot Mt. Williamson in the backdrop.
