Roman Amphitheatre in Catania, Sicily, Italy
Sicily

The 2nd century Roman amphitheatre is located in Piazza Stesicoro. Large parts extend under the baroque buildings in the area and therefore cannot be excavated. Built in black basalt, white marble and red bricks, the building served as a source of building materials for the citizens as early as the 6th century.
