San Juan de Dios Hospital of Granada. Facade.
España
The Hospital, which was former headquarters of the Jeronimos, was the first of this Order of Charity and occupied a building that had previously been San Jerónimo Monastery. The cover realized in 1609 is formed by two bodies, Doric columns and pilasters and in whose center is a sculpture of San Juan de Dios. It is organized in two courtyards with tiles and wall paintings. It emphasizes the vestibule with ceiling of Renaissance coffered ceiling, a patio with arquerías, also Renaissance; The staircase with decorated wooden ceiling, which gives access to the upper floor was completed in the seventeenth century, as well as the church attached to the hospital.
