Built in 1869, the Saugerties Lighthouse has had a tumultuous past. Originally used to warn boats of the shallow waters created by sandbars, it fell into disuse and disrepair. In 1985, the Saugerties Lighthouse Conservancy was formed which bought the property from the State and restored it. Now, the upstairs houses a B&B for a truly unique experience - an overnight in a beautifully restored lighthouse.
