The remains of a fortified settlement site dating from the Iron Age. The monument is situated in a commanding position on hill some 80 metres above sea level. Although there are numerous Brochs surviving in Scotland, their purpose is uncertain. They could be defensive structures or symbols of prestige and power, intended to demonstrate the wealth of the local chieftain.
