The name Trenkovo immediately makes people think of the legendary soldier and Slavonian noble Baron Franjo Trenk (1711-1749), who is still remembered by the people and of whom Slavonia has always been proud. For centuries today’s village of Trenkovo was called Mitrovica, but the name was changed in 1912 at the demand of the inhabitants because at that time Croatia had another Mitrovica in Srijem County (today Sremska Mitrovica in Vojvodina). In this quiet Slavonian village about ten kilometres from Požega, on the southernmost spurs of Papuk, stands the seat of a feudal estate that is locally known as Trenk’s Manor.
