This pano was taken on the University of Texas, Austin campus near the Tower by the turtle pond. The turtle pond is also a memorial to the 49 shooting victims, gunned down August 1, 1966 by UT student Charles Whitman. There were 16 fatalities, 10 of which were from sniper fire from the tower's 28th floor observation deck, just under the clock.
