Amul and National Institute of Technoly Calicut (NITC) together attempted to set a new Guinness World Record of opening the most number of bottles simultaneously using Amul Kool bottles. Some 2000 students of NITC had assembled in the Open Air Theatre (OAT) of NIT Calicut on 13 October, 2011. After the countdown, just as everybody present was opening their bottles in unison, it started raining and balloons were released into the sky, making it a very memorable experience.
I decided to record a panorama of the event, having never shot a crowd panorama before. Since I didn't have a fisheye lens, making this seamless panorama from many composite shots from my 18mm lens proved to be quite difficult : the crowd was moving, the lighting conditions were quickly changing, and towards the end of the shot, people got on the stage to avoid the rain. The image generated finally was almost 900 megapixels big (my largest panorama ever). This image was then compressed and reduced to 450 megapixels before uploading here.
