The old Zittau prison (jail) and the accompanying district court were built in the period from 1911 until 1914. Architect Building Authority (Bautzen) Mr. Grasselt. The prison was used until 1979. Since that time it stands empty. Interestingly, the attic, where you will find today a wall and a lamp with bullet holes. Particularly gruesome are two lights, which were probably used for interrogation and light-torture. And the light is working until today. Downstairs there is also a dark cell. Overall, the building was originally built for the latest and most modern aspects, including with central heating.
