It can be accessed through a 14-km road that turns southwards before arriving at Işıklı Neighborgood, on the 35th km of Silifke-Anamur Road in Silifke District, Mersin. With the new road opened in Işıklı Neighborhood, the distance has decreased to only 8 km. The site is located on Ovacık Peninsula. The city has two antique ports, one in the east and the other in the west. Köserlik Island on the East Port hosts some ruins as well. It is thought that this island was used as a necropolis area during the Roman and Early-Byzantine Periods. The remains of the foundations of structures from the Ancient Periods are visible. Even though Aphrodisias has a history dating back as early as the Archaic Period, it is famous for its basilica type church from the Early Byzantine Period, the mosaic floor of which has been preserved until now.
