Belenkeslik Fortress Toroslar Vr Mersin 4a4
Turkey
It is on Soğucak Plateau, about 20 km to the north of downtown Mersin. The fortress is a two-storey, rectangular building. External walls of the fortress built on the bedrock are made up of face stone blocks. As the doorway is positioned above the ground, a movable wooden rise must have been used to let people in and out. The entrance is decorated with three-sided jambs. On the northwestern tip of the room, which is supported by two arches downstairs, there is a large and open-top door. That door leads up to the second floor. Consoles mounted on the walls of the second floor indicate that there might have been a third floor made up of wooden bond beams. There are observation niches on the second floor. There stands a rock tomb on the outskirts of the fortress, which is dated to the Middle Age.
