Champagny-en-Vanoise se situe en Savoie, dans la vallée de la Tarentaise. Champagny-en-Vanoise est une des 10 stations de ski du domaine de la Plagne qui comprend 225 km de pistes s'étageant entre 1 250 m et 3 250 m. Champagny dispose par ailleurs de 22 km de pistes de ski de fond et de sentiers de randonnée. Le site de Champagny-le-Haut comporte un musée des Glaciers et une tour artificielle d’escalade sur glace. Champagny-en-Vanoise est situé aux portes du Parc national de la Vanoise. La commune comporte de nombreux sommets à plus de 3 000 m d'altitude : la Becca-Motta (3 045 m), le Grand-Bec (3 398 m), la Pointe du Vallonnet (3 372 m), la Pointe des Volnets (3 247 m), la Grande et la Petite Glière (3 392 et 3 322 m), l'Epena (3 421 m), la Grande Casse (3 855 m) plus haut sommet de Savoie, la Grande-Motte (3 653 m), Pramecou (3 081 m), Pointe de la Valaisonnay (3 020 m), les Dôme et Pointe des Pichères (3 319 et 3 309 m), Sommet de Bellecôte (3 417 m).
