The musical piece Cosmopolis was specially created by the renowned Polish composer and author of film music Krzesimir Dębski to celebrate the opening of the fountain (22nd June 2008). The piece was performed by musicians of the Toruń Symphonic Orchestra and the Astrolabium Choir of the Toruń School of Banking. The light and water show was designed by the widely acknowledged lighting director Bogumił Palewicz.
In the following years, the program of the nocturnal water, sound and light show was enriched by adding special renditions of themes from such films as Love Story and Gladiator. Since the first day of its operation the fountain has enjoyed great popularity among the tourists and the inhabitants of the city. The night shows of water, light and music attract numerous audiences. The fountain has become the one most popular attractions of Toruń, almost on a par with Copernicus , gingerbreads and the architecture of the Old Town historical quarter. The Cosmopolis light and sound aquatic shows that take place from spring to autumn are an unforgettable experience, especially if combined with a nocturnal sightseeing tour of the Old Town with its illuminated architectural gems, unique atmosphere, scents of the summer or color palette of the autumn. One just cannot miss it… It is worth mentioning that the idea of the fountain was conceived by a local artist Zbigniew Mikielewicz, the design prepared by FORMA Architectural Studio from Warsaw and the installation made by Gutkowski company from Leszno.
