Flora Macdonald Birthplace South Uist
Scotland

This is a monument to Flora MacDonald who was born here near Mingearraidh on South Uist in 1722 . In 1746 she was living on Benbecula when Bonnie Prince Charlie seeked her assistance in escaping the English (at which she was successful) following the defeat at the Battle of Culloden .

She died at Kingsburgh on the Isle Of Skye in 1790 and this monument was erected for her bravery .
