The fortress located in Mezitli District, is a small patrol tower built at an elevation of 450 m by Fındıkpınar road, 34 km to the northwest of Mersin. It is locally known as “Taş Kale” (literally; ‘the stone fortress’).
Vaults cover the upstairs of the two-storey, rectangular fortress. The only entrance located above ground level is in the northwest, and therefore, a portable wooden ladder must have been used for access, just like in Belenkeşlik Fortress. It is understood that the fortress, which reflects the architectural style of the Middle Age, was also used in the Roman and Byzantine Periods.
