Mono Lake
California

Mono Lake, an endorheic lake east of Yosemite National Park. The bizarre formations are tuff-stone, which fails in the strongly alkaline brine. The city of Los Angeles is pumping a portion of their water needs from here, so that the water level has fallen sharply in recent decades.
