The Feldherrnhalle, built in the 1840s buy Friedrich von Gärtner, marks the cityside of the ensemble of buildings at Odeonsplatz by Leo von Klenze which were built in early 19th century.
Until 1817 here was the location of the northern gate of the city when it's foritifaction walls were torn down to extend the the city.
Looking north you will see on the left the Theatinerkirche, which was the first church of Italian Baroque built in Bavaria.
