Rocky foreshore at Tarbat Peninsula
Scotland

Tarbat Ness lighthouse is located on the tip of the remote Tarbat Peninsula at the entrance to the Dornoch Firth. The classic design with it’s red and white bands is credited to famed lighthouse engineer Robert Stevenson. At 41 metres tall the tower is the third highest in Scotland enabling the light, which was first lit in 1830, to be seen from up to 39 kilometres away. Now operated by the Northern Lighthouse Board it was automated in 1985.
