Saldenburg - Eingang zur Jugendherberge (ehemals Burg)
Bavaria

The Saldenburg was erected in 1368 by Heinrich Tuschl von Söldenau on behalf of the Counts of Hals to secure the trade route Goldener Steig. Since 1677 she belonged to the Count of Preysing. The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark, whose seat was Saldenburg. In 1841 the present church was founded. In 1928 Saldenburg became a youth hostel.

More About Bavaria

The “Free State of Bavaria” is renowned for being culturally unique and for the emphasis which it places on preserving its heritage and traditions. It is also extraordinarily beautiful, boasting a plethora of castles, palaces, cathedrals, abbeys and monasteries not to mention spectacular scenery. Bavaria is more than Alps, men in “lederhosen” (leather pants), women in “dirndl” (traditional dresses) and frothy glasses of beer by the “maβ” (liter).
