To the west of the historic city of "Schluesselfeld" is a notable city gate. The "Upper Gate" is a part of the medieval fortifications composed of a solid gate tower and a three-sided courtyard with massive enclosing walls and a two storey front gate in the west wall. The tower and the front gate were built in the years 1466 - 1495 under Prince-Bishop Rudolf von Scherenberg.
