St Ervan Church, Cornwall
England

The church of St Ervan, which is mentioned in Betjemen's 'Summoned By Bells' was originally built in the 13th century. It is unusual for a Cornish church in being cruciform in shape. The windows were repleced in the 15th century and there was extensive restoration in the 1880s. The top stage of the tower was demolished and not capped until the 1950s. The nave houses some fine carved slate tombstones.
