Chinese fishing nets line the harbor in front of Fort Kochi in Kerala. They are cantilevered over the shoreline and are raised and lower manually. The harbor has become polluted and fishing stocks are diminished. Nowadays the Chinese fishing nets are mainly used to catch tourists. They are asked for a 'donation' in return for hauling on the ropes.
