The ruins of Minard Castle, Kerry
Ireland

Minard Castle is a 16th century tower house situated on a hill overlooking Kilmurry Bay, on the Dingle Peninsula. It was severely damaged and left uninhabitable after an attack by Oliver Cromwell's forces in 1650. Explosive charges were set at each corner causing the upper storey to collapse. All the occupants were killed during the siege.

The unusual beach, formed by large pebbles washed ashore by the sea, is known as a storm beach.
