The Tanneries near Bab El Debbagh Gate are one of the most interesting sites in Marrakech. The Tanneries are situated on the edge of the city with access to water supply and space to expand away from residential areas. After paying tips (some money and cigarettes for all) you can see tanners at hard and dirty work standing in foul-smelling pits, where men tread and rinse skins in nauseous dangerous chemical liquids and dyes. The panorama was taken in 2010 even before the reconstruction in pristine condition.
