Town Hall Square, Tallinn
Tallinn

Raekoja Plats, meaning Town Hall Square, is located in the centre of the Old Town in Tallinn. The large open space has been used as a marketplace since the Middle Ages, hosting open-air concerts and fairs during the summer and a Christmas market in winter.

It is thought to be the place where the world's very first Christmas tree was erected, in 1441.
