Gigapixel view from atop Craggy Mountain (elev. 5,557') west of Yreka, California. Here one has expansive views to the east facing Goosenest, Willow Creek Mountain, & Mount Shasta & Black Butte to the southeast. To the south are the slightly higher McKinley Mountain & Gunsight Peak. Western views include the snowy Preston Peak & range as well as the Red Buttes Wilderness area w/ a glimpse of the Klamath River at the valley bottom. To the north, one can see towards Mt. Ashland & Mt. McLoughlin w/ Vesa Bluffs in the immediate foreground. This summit has relatively easy access, even in the winter, however the area is adorned w/ a lot of granite crags & spires, hence the name. The true top is only 100 feet away however this was the best flat vantage for a tripod on a breezy day w/ a cold bite. A bit unique for the area, these granite formations are kept secret from the general public w/ some rock climbing fun to be had. A lot of motorbike trails adorn the area as the Humbug OHV parking area is in the creek valley below.
