BAHIA DE SANTA MARTA – LA MARINA

Santa Marta, officially the District Tourism, Culture and History of Santa Marta, is a Colombian city, capital of the department of Magdalena and third major urban center of the Caribbean Region after Barranquilla and Cartagena. Founded on July 29, 1525 by the Spanish conqueror Rodrigo de Bastidas, is the oldest existing city in Colombia and the second oldest in South America.

This city, located in the bay of the same name, is one of the main tourist destinations in the Colombian Caribbean. Its location between the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, with the highest peaks in the country, and the Caribbean Sea, make it attractive to explore the variety of fauna and flora that are in the area, as well as cultural and historical sites that the city has . As an important fact, Simón Bolívar died at an estate named Quinta de San Pedro Alexandrian who at the time was outside the city, the December 17, 1830. Because of this, the 1991 constitution conferred upon the character of Santa Marta District Tourism, Culture and History.

Its core most populous and fastest business appears in the traditional central area, near the Market Square. The plane between the first race, 22nd Street and Railroad Avenue, you can frame the historical center and commercial core of the city.

The symbols of the city of Santa Marta are composed flag and white bicolor Blue shield blue and azure edge too, from the top to bottom are three images: the Virgin Mary, a tower and a small boat of four oars.
