Barnes Wallis Stratosphere Chamber Door

Built in 1946 by Barnes Wallis, the Strosphere Camber was designed to test aircraft at 70,000ft. This was used up until 1980 to also test aircraft such as Viscounts, Vanguards, VC10s, Scimitar and Sea Vixen. Thay also tested helicopters, naval guns, trawlers, buses and tanks. Here you can see the huge moveable door that allowed large objects to be loaded into the chamber. See http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/index.php?/explore/the-stratosphere-chamber/ for further details.
