The old town hall, built of red sandstone, is the most striking landmark in Buchen and a protected cultural monument. The archways are provided with stone "envy heads", which are supposed to keep evil spirits away. The gable of the building is crowned by a turret with a bell. The city administration had its headquarters here until shortly after the First World War. The Pilgrim von Buchheim fountain rounds off the small forecourt in front of the city hall.
