Great Shasta Rail Trail

Formerly a railroad established in 1896 in McCloud, California connecting south to Burney, operations here lasted from 1905 to 1955.  The last train rolled through here in 2006 & the rail tracks were removed & converted into the 80-mile long Great Shasta Rail Trail.  Here in early May, there was still much snow covering the trail, which made biking rather difficult as I was headed up towards the top of nearby Bear Mountain.
