Collegiate Church in Ochtrup Langenhorst
Muensterland-Baumberge

The Collegiate Church of St. John in Ochtrup-Langenhorst is a Catholic parish church and chapel of the Parish of St. Lambert in Ochtrup.

The monastery church of the Augustinian sisters Langenhorst was established by the dean of Franko Wettringen. It was built in the period 1180-1225/30 intermittently. 1203 granted by the Bishop of Munster, Herman II of Katzenelnbogen extensive privileges for the monastery Langenhorst. Its significance is in the confirmation of the rights and possession of the monastery by Pope Clement III. recognizable. On 30 May 1556 large fire burned in a devastating disaster for Langenhorst large parts of the monastery, from almost all the farm buildings and the north tower and the north-east side of the church. In 1576, the monastery into a noble freiweltliches Damenstift was transformed. In 1750, the last heyday of the pin was recorded. 1811, the abbey was dissolved during the secularisation.
