Coloma Cemetery
As is the case with most early California towns, Coloma had two old cemeteries, one each for the Protestants and Catholics. This is the larger, Protestant cemetery. This is one of the oldest Euro-American cemeteries in the state, with the first burial recorded just a couple of years after the Gold Rush began in 1848 and 1849. The history evinced by these gravemarkers is profound. What a time to live in the state that must have been.
