View from the top of Cougar Butte (elev. 5,810') on the north flank of the Medicine Lake Volcano in northern California.  Views are somewhat limited from this old cinder cone.  The summit contains a small shallow crater & the region was burned by the Caldwell Fire of 2020, a lightning-caused fire that burned over 80,000 acres around the Lava Beds National Monument area.
