The construction of the palace near the church in the name of Useknoveniya heads of John the Baptist began in 1881, Prince SM Vorontsov - heir to the Governor-General Novorossii MS Vorontsova. He chose to build a town full of picturesque rocks, caves and springs. The palace in the style of the times of Louis XIII French architect designed Bouchard.
In 1882 based on the passing of the Prince SM Vorontsova construction Massandra Palace a long time stood still and life is frozen until 1889, when the unit has acquired Massandra Office. From 1892 to 1900 on a draft of Professor ME Mesmahera construction of the palace ensemble continued to make many changes in the decor of the facade, expressed in a modernist style, the interior and layout of the park.
