The Arizona desert usually seems somewhat moonlike and generally hostile to all life. However, there are times when the desert springs to life - springtime in fact. During just a few weeks, following a (relatively) rainy season, the landscape fills with green and yellow, and to a lesser degree orange and red. It really is magnificent. There is animal life too of course, but it's nearly all nocturnal. During the day there are only a few birds and lizards.
