East of Horseshoe Bend on the Kings River Highway

At Horseshoe Bend the South Fork Kings River snakes through a narrow gorge, between towering marble and quartzite cliffs known as the Portals of the Kings. The highway is carved out of the cliffs hundreds of feet above the river.
