Gordale Scar, Yorkshire Dales National Park

Gordale Scar is a magnificent gorge with overhanging walls that gradually narrow to the north where a waterfall cascades down a tufa pillar. A fairly easy scrambling ascent leads past the waterfall and continues as a footpath to Malham Tarn.

Rock climbers are attracted to the atmospheric and difficult routes, especially those on the west face of the gorge.
