The Homhil Protected Area contains an abundance of Frankincense trees and other endemic nature. At the northern edge of the area, down an inclined slope a kilometer from the campground, there is a spectacular rock pool that overlooks Socotra's northern coastline and the Indian Ocean.

A swim in that pool after a long hard slog up to Homhil Plateau is one of the true pleasures in life. There is even an underwater ledge for standing on, so you can admire the view while submerged in cool clear water.
