Inside Ik-Kil Maya Cenote, Mexico
Mexico

On the way to Chichen Itza we detoured a little bit for a swim in the natural pool Ik-Kil, where once the human offerings to the god Chak were thrown. Nowadays the tourists cast themselves in these cool waters. The water is about 26 meters(80 feet) underground. Long time ago the "ceiling" has collapsed and revealed its beauty to the ancient civilizations and us. Similar underground natural pools are called cenotes by the localc, which are common in the Yucatan. Its depth is 40 meters and the diameter about 60 meters. There are changing rooms, lockers and a restaurant for tourists at the top near the entrance.
