Pt. 2420'/738m) summit

View from the summit of Point 2,420 west of Smith River, California.  The peak is easily accessed from Low Divide Road as it straddles this high ridge, following the old wagon road that went from Crescent City to Jacksonville, Oregon during the gold rush mining days.  Here one can see the red peridotite landscape (also hit hard by the Biscuit Fire of 2002).  Views of High Plateau Mountain, Pine Flat Mountain, & even the nearby Pacific Ocean to the west.  In 1940, a 40' tall fire lookout (Stone Corral) was erected here however it has since been removed.
